The Great Magna Carta Weekend will be a colourful spectacle of events and festivals to celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta across Lincoln and beyond – from June 11th to June 15th.
Almost 800 years to the day since Magna Carta was sealed by King John under pressure by 25 rebellious Barons, celebrations take place across the city of Lincoln where one of only four remaining copies of the charter can be found.
Highlights include:
- The Freedom Festival on the Brayford Waterfront
Don’t miss the Freedom Festival with performances by local comedians and live music on the Freedom Stage at the University of Lincoln. Enjoy family activities, craft stalls, food stands and children’s rides, and you’ll catch a glimpse of the Night of Festivals Carnival procession. The evening finishes with a spectacular firework finale. - The Night of Festivals carnival in the city centre
