Young creative handpicked as one of Adobe Photoshop Anniversary ‘25 under 25’
A young British designer has been commissioned to take control of a major social media account for global software company Adobe, after being handpicked as one of the most exciting young creatives in the world.
To mark the 25th anniversary of Adobe Photoshop, the imaging software that continues to redefine creativity in the digital age, Adobe is showcasing 25 of the most promising visual artists under the age of 25.
Designers from around the world have been invited to submit their Photoshop work to Behance using the tag #Ps25Under25, and Tom Watkins, a Creative Advertising student from the University of Lincoln, UK, was selected from a pool of candidates to represent the future of the brand.
Tom, who is currently in his second year of undergraduate study at the University of Lincoln’s School of Architecture & Design, has a growing international reputation after winning the coveted Creative Jam at the Adobe Education Summit 2014.
From Monday 9th March, he will showcase his work via the Photoshop Instagram account (@Photoshop) for two weeks. From a specially commissioned design created to celebrate Adobe’s landmark anniversary, to images and videos taken while working in and around the University of Lincoln, Tom’s life as a young creative will be presented for the world to see.
Tom said: “I am delighted to have been selected as one of Adobe’s ’25 under 25’. It’s a really amazing opportunity to showcase my designs and the way in which I work on a day-to-day basis. Photoshop is one of the most recognised software brands in the world and its influence can be seen in almost all of the imagery that surrounds us – it is the go-to application for digital image manipulation – so to be working with such a prolific company is fantastic experience for me.”
Tom will be the second designer to present his work as part of the campaign, taking over from Fredy Santiago, a 24-year old Mexican-American artist and illustrator based in Ventura, California.
Lex van den Berghe, senior product manager for digital imaging solutions at Adobe, said: “We’re looking for the most innovative, forward-looking work out there that will show the world what the next generation of Photoshop artists is made of. These 25 game changers will be from all parts of the world, and their art will represent their diverse cultures, life experiences, points of view and dreams…all brought to life with the help of Photoshop. In honour of our 25th year, each artist will be creating an original piece of art to celebrate the milestone, and over the course of the next year, they will each stage a two week takeover of our brand new Photoshop Instagram channel – sharing their story and their art with the world.”
Tom’s work will be showcased on the @Photoshop Instagram channel from Monday 9th March 2015.
