The University of Lincoln has announced that the management of its student venues will transfer to the Students’ Union.
The announcement follows the transfer of management of The Shed in January 2014 and is aimed at continuing to improve the student experience on campus. Market research undertaken by an external organisation last year indicated that students wanted more student-led social space and activity.
Any profit made from the venues will now be directly invested into meeting other aims students set out for improving the student experience, such as expanding support on academic issues, enhancing the course representation system and improving volunteering and activities.
James Brooks, CEO of the Lincoln Students’ Union, said: “I am really pleased that Lincoln students will have a venue that they can call their own where they will have a real say over what events and activities take place within it. The student experience at Lincoln is something that we pride ourselves upon and this can only enhance that further. All permanent staff employed at the venues will be part of this exciting new venture.”
