RiverCare, are hosting a Love Your River community day in Lincoln, on Saturday 21st May, in celebration of Invasive Species Week.
Alongside the Environment Agency, Canal & Rivers Trust, British Canoeing, Lincolnshire Rivers Trust, Lincoln Canoe Club, Lions Contractors, and the University of Lincoln Sustainability team, they invite you to look at the species growing on and in the River Witham and learn how we can all look after our watercourse!
The event will be held along the Brayford Pool, outside the University of Lincoln Minerva Building, from 10am to 2pm, where there will be various activities for any and all to join in, including getting up close and personal with invasive aquatic plant species, floating pennywort, and a bankside river clean to remove plastic pollution from our waterway.
Cate Holborn, RiverCare programme officer, said, “We hope to show how important looking after our amazing river habitat is, not only for wildlife, but for members of the local community too.
Everyone is welcome, all activity equipment is provided and free refreshments will be available. We hope to see you there!”
