We invite you to join the University of Lincoln and Students’ Union as we celebrate Black History Month 2020. Please see these video messages from Vice Chancellor Professor Mary Stuart and Students’ Union BAME Campaigns Officer Sade Sekoni.
Black History Month (BHM) is important for all students and staff. It brings Black students from different backgrounds together, but also illuminates how much Black British History has shaped how everyone lives in the UK today.
The University and the Students’ Union are incredibly excited to celebrate and highlight BHM as it provides the opportunity for all within our community to learn about a past, various cultures and people of which they may have little awareness. BHM also provides an opportunity to build on our One Community values to develop a diverse and inclusive community within the university and the wider community.
Staff and students from across the University have put together an amazing programme of activities which include film screenings, poetry, art, book clubs, recipes and a variety of interactive talks. This is only the starting point of what we have planned for BHM and it promises to be an amazing calendar year full of celebrations.
This year’s celebrations are not about one month, but about raising awareness that will run throughout the year.
For more information about the events and celebrations taking place across the campus please visit the Black History Month webpage.
